Hankook WeatherFlex GT tyre awarded Red Dot Design Award 2025 for innovative, biomimetic all-weather design.

Hankook’s WeatherFlex GT wins Red Dot 2025 for its nature-inspired, all-weather tyre design combining safety, innovation, and performance.

The WeatherFlex GT’s Biomimetic Design Stood Out

Hankook Tire’s latest all-weather innovation, the WeatherFlex GT, has won the Product Design category at the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2025, recognizing the tyre’s blend of innovation, performance, and visual sophistication.

Hosted annually by Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen (DZNRW) in Germany, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the world’s most respected design competitions. It evaluates entries across three categories—Product Design, Brands & Communication, and Design Concept—judging submissions based on their innovation, functionality, and aesthetic quality.

The WeatherFlex GT impressed jurors with its biomimetic design, which draws inspiration from natural elements. Its asymmetric tread pattern mirrors the structure of broadleaf plants, while fine kerfs and thin slits resemble the form of conifer needles. This design enables balanced, high-performance driving across dry, wet, and snowy conditions.

Certified with the 3PMSF (3-Peak Mountain Snowflake) symbol—a mandatory mark for winter tyres in Europe—the WeatherFlex GT ensures reliable handling even in severe winter conditions.

In addition to all-weather stability, the tyre also offers long-lasting durability. Thanks to Hankook’s advanced compound technology, the WeatherFlex GT delivers a driving lifespan of up to 70,000 kilometres. Features such as noise-reducing tread grooves and an optimized sidewall design further enhance driver comfort, reflecting a consumer-first approach to innovation.

This latest award adds to Hankook’s growing reputation in global design circles. The company has consistently earned accolades from all three of the world’s leading design competitions: the Red Dot Design Award, Germany’s iF Design Award, and the U.S.-based IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards). Since 2012, Hankook has won in at least one category from each of these respected institutions annually.
