Apollo Tyres ranks among the top 5 per cent of global companies for sustainability, ethics, and social responsibility.
Apollo Tyres’ Score Has Improved from 41 to 76 in the Last 5 Years
Apollo Tyres has been awarded the Gold Rating from EcoVadis, the world’s leading provider of business sustainability ratings. This award places Apollo Tyres in the top 5 per cent of all companies globally, across all industries, in terms of sustainability, ethical business practices, and social responsibility.
EcoVadis used a comprehensive set of criteria, from environmental impact, labour practices, ethics, and sustainable procurement, to evaluate companies all over the world. The overall performance score for Apollo Tyres improved from the 92nd percentile last year to the 95th percentile this year. Meanwhile, its overall score has improved from 41 to 76 in the last five years.
“The manifold improvement in our Environment, Ethics and Labour and Human Rights scores was driven by focused initiatives such as enhanced environmental management practices, strengthened ethics and compliance programmes, and the implementation of inclusive labour policies,” said Sunam Sarkar, President and Chief Business Officer of Apollo Tyres.
“This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams, who have worked tirelessly to integrate sustainable practices throughout our operations, motivating us to continue advancing our sustainability journey,” he emphasised.
Among the four areas that EcoVadis assessed, Apollo Tyres showed the most improvement in the Ethics and Labour and Human Rights categories, where the score increased from 50 to 63 and 70 to 80 points respectively. The Indian company achieved the highest score in the Environmental Impact category with 85 points, while the Sustainable Procurement score stood at 71 points.
“An overall score of 76/100 reflects Apollo Tyres’ commitment to combat climate change, fostering a safe and inclusive workplace, and upholding the highest ethical standards to ensure trust and transparency throughout the value chain,” the company wrote in an official statement.
In the EcoVadis assessment, the top 1 per cent of the companies scoring 99+ percentile get platinum ranking, the top 5 per cent with 95+ percentile get gold ranking, the top 15 per cent with 85+ percentile get silver ranking, and the top 35 per cent with 65+ percentile get bronze ranking.
