Continental launches the TKC 802, its next-generation adventure motorcycle tyre, offering stronger grip, stability, and improved off-road performance.
Continental TKC 802 Sets New Standards in Off-Road Performance
Continental has launched the TKC 802, a motorcycle tyre tailored for the trail and adventure segment, to succeed the long-serving TKC 80 that was first introduced in 1985. The TKC 802 is Continental’s answer to both the growing demand for off-road experiences worldwide and how modern adventure motorcycles, with their more powerful engines, require better performance and stronger traction from the tyres.
The Continental TKC 802 features a new tread design, with larger and reorganised knobs, additional leading edges, staggered outer blocks, and optimised geometry that improve mechanical grip on loose surfaces and ensure self-cleaning. With a larger contact patch, the tyre offers improved stability both when riding upright and at lean angles.
The tread blocks on the front tyre, angled sharply downwards in the direction of travel, improve grip during braking on off-road terrain. Meanwhile, the rear tyre’s tread pattern, oriented in the opposite direction, provides optimal traction during acceleration.
Another key aspect of Continental TKC 802 that makes it different from its predecessor is the optimised casing construction. Specially designed for 50/50 on-road and off-road use, it delivers stability under full load at high speeds or on very demanding off-road tracks. Improved tyre damping, meanwhile, increases comfort in all conditions.
The TKC 802 is made of a new rubber compound that offers a better balance on various surfaces and increased wear resistance. Thanks to Continental RainGrip technology, the tyre also provides strong grip, especially in cold and wet conditions.
“Our new flexible rubber compound adapts perfectly to the micro-roughness of the asphalt, providing excellent grip. At the same time, we have worked intensively to resolve the conflict between on-road and off-road performance in the best possible way. The tyre’s tread pattern combines maximum flexibility for secure grip in wet conditions with high block rigidity to offer stability and mechanical grip,” stated Raphael Michels, Product Manager for Motorcycle Tires at Continental.
The Continental TKC 802 is offered in a wide range of sizes: four front sizes in 19 and 21 inches and six rear sizes in 17 and 18 inches, making it suitable for adventure motorcycles from leading manufacturers, such as BMW, KTM, Honda, Yamaha, and Ducati. The tyre will be available starting in Spring 2026.
“With the TKC 802, we are setting new standards in terms of versatility, robustness, and off-road performance. The combination of an innovative tread design, a new rubber compound, and an optimised casing offers adventure riders maximum safety, control, and riding pleasure on a wide variety of terrains,” explained Christoph Ettenhuber, Director of the Motorcycle Tire Business Area at Continental.
