At COP30, Linglong Tire pledged to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 through sustainable materials, clean energy, and advanced green technology.
All Linglong Tyres in 2040 Will Be Made of 100% Sustainable Materials
Wang Feng, the President and CEO of Linglong Tire, delivered a keynote speech as a representative of China’s industrial transformation at the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belem, the capital of the Brazilian state of Para. In his speech, Wang highlighted Linglong‘s commitment to significantly reducing CO₂ emissions and achieving carbon neutrality ahead of the timetable.
COP30 began on November 10 and will conclude on November 21, 2025. China has its own pavilion where it displays its achievements regarding global climate issues, with CO₂ emissions being one of them. According to Wang, Linglong Tire seeks to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, or ten years ahead of the target set out in the Paris Agreement for Chinese companies. This means the tyre maker is pursuing the same goal as the European Union’s companies.
What Linglong Tire Has Achieved So Far
Linglong Tire is already reducing carbon emissions through energy efficiency, sustainable tyre development, and intelligent supply chain management. The goal is to reduce carbon emissions by 52.07 per cent by 2035 and achieve zero carbon by 2050 at the latest. The company is now focusing on five core elements: new materials, advanced technologies, modern processes, smart machines, and environmentally friendly energy.
Last year, Linglong Tire introduced a concept tyre made from 79 per cent sustainable materials. In 2028, the company aims to increase the percentage to 85 per cent, and by 2040, all tyres will be made from 100 per cent sustainable materials. By using bio-based feedstocks, such as biotechnical (itaconate) rubber, rice husk ash, or corn-based silica serve, to replace traditional petroleum-based raw materials, Linglong has already reduced its carbon emissions by 35 per cent.
Linglong Tire is the first Chinese company to join the Global Platform for Sustainable Natural Rubber (GPSNR), working with other members to improve sustainability in the natural rubber sector. Linglong also supports FSC-certified natural rubber projects to support the livelihoods of farmers, contribute to forest preservation, and protect the rights of workers, indigenous peoples, and local communities. In addition, the company promotes the use of liquid waste rubber and pyrolysis carbon black to effectively use waste tyres, ensuring a closed resource cycle.
According to Wang, the dual-carbon roadmap is not only a commitment to environmental protection but also revolutionises the entire production process. The long-term target for Linglong Tire is to leave a “clean and beautiful planet for generations to come”.
