Hankook Signs Global Partnership Agreement with FIA

Hankook FIA Global Partner signing ceremony

Hankook has joined the FIA Global Partner Programme, backing sustainability, innovation, and safety across motorsport and mobility.

Hankook Partners FIA to Advance Sustainable Mobility

Hankook Tire has signed a partnership to be the Global Partner of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motorsport. The signing ceremony, which took place on January 23, 2026, at the FIA London Office, was attended by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and Jong-ho Park, President and COO of Hankook Tire Europe.

The partnership forms part of the FIA Global Partner Programme, an initiative to promote innovation, sustainability, and safety in mobility and motorsport, which unites leading organisations around the world. Under the agreement, Hankook takes on the role of Official Partner of the FIA Awards, an annual event taking place every December, and Official Partner of the FIA Sustainable Innovation Series from 2026 to 2028.

The FIA Sustainable Innovation Series is a global platform aimed to bring together industry leaders to facilitate discussion, collaboration, and action on promoting ‘track on road’ opportunities, where innovation in motorsport can impact the broader auto industry. This platform is run in close cooperation with FIA World Championships, such as Formula E, Formula One, World Endurance Championship  (WEC), and World Rally Championship (WRC).

Hankook said the partnership with FIA is “based on a common understanding of values”. Both parties see pioneering work in the field of new technologies as the key to positive changes in future mobility and motorsport. Hankook contributes to this approach with its technological expertise and focus on sustainability, which are evident in its AI-assisted development processes, strategic investment in electromobility (such as with the iON tyre family), and the increased use of certified renewable and recycled raw materials.

“As an integral component of modern mobility, tyres contribute significantly to safety, efficiency and sustainability, particularly against the background of the technological shift to new drive concepts. With this in mind, Hankook is taking an integrated approach and developing tyre solutions that meet the highest standards for conventional and new vehicle types,” the South Korean company said.

Hankook also added that its involvement in motorsport, especially as technical partner and tyre supplier of Formula E and WRC, is a central component of the company’s broader research and technology strategy.

“Sustainability and technological innovation are at the heart of our missions at the FIA, so I am delighted to welcome Hankook as a new partner. This new partnership with Hankook reflects the global growth of our FIA Global Partner Programme, and through collaboration, it will strengthen our work to make motorsport and mobility safer,” said Ben Sulayem.

Park also echoed the sentiment, saying, “The FIA and Hankook share the belief that technological innovation can only be effective on a sustained basis if it combines safety, fairness, and responsibility. As Global Partner of the FIA, we want to use our expertise in technology and sustainable tyre development to drive the mobility of the future.”

Meanwhile, Craig Edmondson, Chief Commercial Officer of the FIA, noted that the partnership highlights the federation’s efforts to accelerate progress. “We are pleased to welcome Hankook into the FIA Global Partner Programme. Together, we will continue to accelerate progress and shape a more sustainable, future‑focused mobility ecosystem,” he said.
