Apollo Tyres has revealed full technical details of the Vredestein Quatrac Pro 2, an all-new ultra-high-performance (UHP) all-season tyre set for launch this summer.

Engineered to be a versatile performance-focused product, the Quatrac Pro 2 was designed and developed by Apollo Tyres at its Global R&D Centre in the Netherlands, and is going to be manufactured at the company’s plant in Hungary. The main selling point of this tyre is that, instead of building on its predecessor’s technology, it adopts an entirely new tread design, compound, and structure to address the performance compromises traditionally associated with UHP all-season tyres.

The directional tread pattern combines longitudinal grooves with a V-shaped layout to improve aquaplaning resistance and handling. A stable centre rib enhances dry steering precision and braking stability, while sculpted lateral grooves balance wet performance with winter traction. Three-dimensional interlocking sipes in the shoulder blocks support snow grip without compromising tread block stability in dry and wet conditions. A multi-pitch tread block sequence manages exterior noise, resulting in the tyre’s A-rated noise label for the entire portfolio.

The next-generation traction compound combines unique resins and polymers with a complex multi-filler technology, delivering a broader operating window across a wide temperature range with a particular focus on wet braking. In cold conditions, it provides reliable grip on wet and snow-covered surfaces, while in warmer temperatures, it retains stiffness to resist abrasion and maintain consistent handling.

The compound also supports the demands of electric and hybrid vehicles, ensuring consistent grip and torque stability despite the added mass of battery systems and the immediate torque of the electric powertrain. The tyre carries the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certification, underscoring its compliance with UN winter performance standards.

Structurally, the Quatrac Pro 2 features a stiffer bead area with a double taper design to ensure consistent bead seating during high-speed manoeuvres by distributing forces more evenly to enhance ride comfort and steering stability. A dedicated belt design optimises the footprint shape for improved mileage and, in mixed fitment, it improves steering precision at the front axle while delivering stability at the rear. The construction is also lighter than comparable tyres in the category, reducing rolling resistance to support efficiency and electric vehicle range.

Daniele Lorenzetti, Chief Technology Officer at Apollo Tyres, said, “The Quatrac Pro 2 has exceeded the very demanding performance target we set during development, while delivering superior wet grip, great snow handling, low rolling resistance and high mileage. By focusing on the fundamentals of tyre behaviour and rethinking tread design, materials and structure, we have created a performance-focused all-season tyre that delivers stability, mileage, all-season grip with best wet performance in category.”

The Vredestein Quatrac Pro 2 will be available in rim sizes from 17 to 24 inches, with section widths of up to 335 and speed ratings up to Y, confirming its positioning at the top of the UHP all-season category. High load rating options will be available on selected sizes.
