Pirelli Extends OE-Grade UHP Technology to Retail

Pirelli has made its P Zero R and P Zero Trofeo RS tyres available in the replacement market, bringing two products previously exclusive to original equipment fitments on high-performance sportscars within reach of retail customers for the first time.

Both tyres sit at the top of the P Zero range and were developed in close collaboration with leading luxury and performance car manufacturers. They are currently fitted as original equipment across more than 60 models, spanning European sports cars and supercars through to American muscle cars. The move into the aftermarket allows Pirelli to extend that OE-grade technology to drivers seeking ultra-high-performance (UHP) tyres outside of a factory fitment context.

The P Zero R is aimed at sports cars and the upper tier of the prestige segment, built around newly formulated compounds that deliver grip across varying asphalt types and weather conditions. Its tread pattern is also designed to keep road noise to a minimum.

The tyre’s credentials were recently validated by Tyre Reviews, which ranked it first among eight ultra-high-performance summer tyres in the 235/35 R19 size, citing top scores in dry braking, dry handling, and wet handling. Tyre Reviews described it as inspiring “great confidence even in extreme driving conditions”.

The P Zero Trofeo RS is a road-legal semi-slick developed for maximum track performance, prioritising consistency under sustained high-load conditions. It has set lap records across multiple categories at the Nürburgring Nordschleife since its introduction.

Both tyres are developed on Pirelli‘s R&D simulator in Milan and manufactured using the company’s MIRS robotic production system, deployed at its plant in Settimo Toreinese, Italy, and its facility in Rome, Georgia, where production for the American market is based.

Across the wider P Zero family, Pirelli offers a range of supplementary technologies, including RunFlat construction, its Pirelli Noise Cancelling System foam lining, EV-specific Elect variants, and the Cyber Tyre sensor system for real-time performance and safety data.
