Bridgestone Indonesia provided disaster relief and long-term recovery support following floods in Sumatra.
Aid for Sumatra Channelled through Dompet Dhuafa
PT Bridgestone Tire Indonesia (Bridgestone Indonesia) has provided disaster recovery assistance to communities affected by the 2025 Sumatra floods and landslides. The company delivered humanitarian aid valued at nearly Rp300 million (£13,000) to support recovery efforts in several of the worst-hit areas.
The assistance was channelled through the humanitarian organisation Dompet Dhuafa and distributed in December 2025, reaching 3,160 people in Aceh’s Tamiang Regency, Central Tapanuli Regency in North Sumatra, and Agam Regency in West Sumatra. The programme is a part of Bridgestone Indonesia‘s sustainability commitment, which has benefited more than 4,000 people across the country.
The aid focused on addressing urgent needs while also supporting long-term recovery. Support included health services and the operation of public kitchens for more than 2,600 people, food assistance packages, supplies for mothers and children, hygiene kits, and family emergency packs.
In addition, Bridgestone Indonesia also supported the construction of temporary school buildings, clean water and sanitary facilities, temporary housing units, a small motorcycle repair business package to help restore livelihoods, and a bore well to improve access to clean water.
“The disasters that occurred in a number of regions in Sumatra serve as a reminder to all of us that humanitarian values and social concern must not stop at words, but must be realised through concrete actions,” said Yunus Triyonggo, Director of Human Resources and General Affairs at Bridgestone Indonesia.
“Through collaboration with Dompet Dhuafa and the support of the entire Bridgestone Indonesia family, we hope this assistance can ease the burden on communities while accelerating the recovery process. We believe that every act of kindness will bring blessings both to those who receive it and to those who contribute,” he added.
The disaster recovery initiative was supported internally by several Bridgestone Indonesia bodies, including the company’s workers’ union, mosque welfare council, and employee cooperative.
Road Safety Programme in Bekasi, West Java
Separately, Bridgestone Indonesia has also implemented its Road Safety School Programme (RSSP) 2025 in Bekasi, West Java, where it handed over road safety infrastructure to SMP Negeri 1 Bekasi (State Junior High School 1 Bekasi).
As part of the programme, a range of road safety infrastructure was installed around the school, including traffic and school zone signage, a designated school safety zone, pedestrian crossings, and rumble strips. The programme was carried out in collaboration with local authorities, from the Bekasi education and transport agencies to the city police.
Throughout 2025, the RSSP has also included activities such as webinars and workshops, benefiting more than 1,100 students, teachers, and parents.
