General Tire debuts the Grabber Cross A/S, an all-season SUV tyre with off-road grip, EV compatibility, and 44 size options.
Grabber Cross A/S Fits 85 Per Cent of Crossovers
American tyremaker, General Tire, officially launched its latest all-season tyre, the Grabber Cross A/S, on May 20, 2025. Under the motto “On the road and beyond”, the 4×4 tyre offers good handling on asphalt, protection against aquaplaning, safe driving in warm and cold seasons, high mileage, and good traction off-road.
According to the company’s official release, the Grabber Cross A/S is a mild all-terrain type designed to offer a balanced blend of on-road comfort and light off-road capability. To achieve that, General Tire developed the tyre with a combination of a “stiff tread” and a “cut and chip resistant” rubber compound.
For dry roads use, the Grabber Cross A/S has support elements integrated between the blocks to make the tread extra stiff, ensuring safe performance. This design also guarantees even pressure distribution to provide precise steering, safety in long-distance high-speed driving, driving comfort, low rolling noise, and high mileage.
Meanwhile, to provide traction on loose surfaces, the edges of the tread grooves are chamfered further, creating hexagonal blocks with “biting edges”. The Grabber Cross A/S also features a highly cut and chip-resistant crossover compound that increases the tyre’s durability on rough terrain.
For wet and snowy roads, transverse and longitudinal sipes in the tread blocks provide good grip for the tyre. The open tread shoulder, on the other hand, accelerates water evacuation when driving in the rain, preventing aquaplaning.
“The Grabber Cross A/S is General Tire‘s entry into a new product segment. The tyre is designed for high speeds on fast roads, but also offers excellent off-road performance in challenging terrain,” said Matthias Bartz, Business Development Manager for General Tire in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
44 Sizes between 16 and 22 Inches
Bartz explained that, with General Tire’s “extensive size portfolio”, the Grabber Cross A/S can offer tyres for “about 85 per cent” of the most popular crossover SUVs. The all-season tyre will be available in 44 sizes between 16 and 22 inches in diameter. Depending on the size, it is approved for speeds up to 240 km/h.
The new Grabber Cross A/S is suitable for a wide range of vehicles with and without four-wheel drive. This includes popular SUVs such as the VW Tiguan, KIA Sorento, Ford Kuga, Mazda CX 90, and Volvo XC90. It also bears the “EV Compatible” logo on its sidewall, certifying its suitability for electric vehicles.
In addition, the M+S marking and the so-called snowflake symbol can be found on the tyre. The M+S (Mud and Snow) indicates that the tyre is designed for use in those conditions. Meanwhile, the snowflake symbol is mandatory in Germany and France since 2024 as proof of winter capability.
The tyre is available now through dealers and service centres. On the EU tyre label, the new 4×4 all-season tyre achieves a rolling resistance rating of C or D, a wet grip rating of C and a rolling noise rating of B.
