Kumho Tire Teams Up with Ansible Motion to Advance Digital Tyres

Kumho Tire and Ansible Motion partnership signing

The partnership with Ansible Motion aims to strengthen Kumho Tire’s digital R&D capabilities and accelerate tyre development through simulation.

EVs and High-Performance Vehicles the Main Focuses for Kumho

Kumho Tire signed a partnership agreement late last year with UK-based driving simulator specialist, Ansible Motion, to develop next-generation digital tyres.

The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Young-jin, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D at Kumho Tire, and Dan Clark, CEO of Ansible Motion, along with other representatives from both companies.

The partnership is carried out under the slogan “Kumho Tire with Ansible Motion: Driving the Future with Digital Tyres“. Under the agreement, the two companies agreed to enhance tyre performance testing systems using advanced digital simulation technologies and to strengthen competitiveness in tyre development, particularly for electric vehicles (EVs) and high-performance vehicles.

“Our cooperation with Ansible Motion will serve as an opportunity to elevate Kumho Tire’s R&D paradigm to a new level centred on digital technology. By actively utilising advanced simulation technologies, we will introduce high-performance, high-value-added products optimised for future mobility environments and continuously strengthen our competitiveness in the global market,” Kim said.

Ansible Motion develops driving simulator technology that precisely replicates real-world road driving environments. Its technology enables various aspects, including vehicle dynamics, driving safety, and ride comfort, to be tested in virtual environments.

By integrating Ansible Motion‘s latest driving simulator into its R&D process, Kumho Tire expects to reduce the time and cost required to develop new tyres, while enabling more precise and efficient performance evaluation from the early stages of development. In addition, the company also aims to respond more quickly to the rapidly changing mobility environment and strengthen its digital-based R&D capabilities.

“Our collaboration with Kumho Tire will become an important example of how driving simulation technology can accelerate innovation in the tyre industry. We look forward to contributing to the advancement of the global mobility industry through the technological synergy between our two companies,” Clark said.
