Stamford Tyres Malaysia(STM), the sole distributor of the Falken brand in Malaysia, rewarded its dealers with a 4 days 3 nights trip to Ayutthaya, the focal point of the 2017 Asia Cross Country Rally (ACCR), and Bangkok from 13th to 16th August, 2017.
A total of 33 people, including 6 representatives from Stamford Tyres Malaysia - Team Leader Frankie Kong, Team Assistance Kelvin Wong, Senior Sales Manager Chia Kiang Mun, Stamford Tyres Malaysia CEO Cham Soon Kian and two STM marketing personnel Chye Chew Yong and Norma Ng - embarked on the trip. They were warmly welcomed by Sumitomo Rubber Thailand (SRT) with a grand dinner at Classic Kameo Ayutthaya hotel.
Shortly after dinner, the real excitement began at the ACCR area. This year, the 22ndrunningof the rally, STM sponsored two TRD Asia Teams. The dealers cheered for the two Toyota Hilux Revos, one carrying Falken’s green and blue colours and the otherfitted with FalkenWildpeak MT01 265/70R17,at the start point. The MT01 was the team’s preferred choice as it offers maximum traction and aggressive design pattern, and has a good reputation for its proven off-road performance and durability over harsh conditions.
The MT01 features the proprietary three-ply Duraspec Sidewall Technology that was developed to sustain the most punishing off-road conditions. Duraspec includes a two-ply turn-up on the bead for an additional layer of protection and durability. Large shoulder blocks provide improved stability and traction. In addition, the shoulder lugs give extra pulling power in soft terrain, particularly when aired down.
First held in 1996, the ACCR has become a prominent cross country rally event in Asia. It is commonly known as AXCR or Asian Rally. Held in August every year, the route takes to the mountain area, jungle, beach side, plantations, tarmac and circuit.
