Bridgestone Malaysia Joins Relay for Life to Raise Cancer Awareness

Bridgestone Malaysia Cancer Awareness

For the third year running, Bridgestone Malaysia gave its support to the National Cancer Society Malaysia’s marquee event, Relay For Life Kuala Lumpur 2017. Relay For Life is a franchised event from the American Cancer Society (ACS) to promote cancer awareness that runs in more than 20 countries across the globe. Cancer survivors, their caregivers and the general public took turns to walk the track for 16 hours from 6pm on Saturday (9th Sept, 2017) to 10am on Sunday in support of cancer awareness and to pay tribute to those who lost the battle against the disease.

Jo Takekawa, Managing Director of Bridgestone Malaysia, commented: “For more than 80 years, Bridgestone has been dedicated in helping customers to keep moving on their journeys with passion and innovation that delivers reliability, safety and performance. Relay for Life is a meaningful 16-hour event where the field is not left unattended for the whole duration to show support to cancer patients, cancer survivors, their caregivers and family members. And like our products, we aspire to keep moving to overcome any obstacle. We are happy to see so many people come to this event to show their support despite the heavy rain.

“In line with Bridgestone’s mission; ‘Serving Society with Superior Quality’, we aspire to offer the best for our customers and society, not only in our products, services and technology, but in all our corporate activities. Being part of this charitable event gives Bridgestone Malaysia an avenue to showcase our commitment to the community, where we do not only sell quality products but contribute in making our society a better place.”

As the principle sponsor for ‘2017 Relay For Life Kuala Lumpur’, Bridgestone Malaysia also donated RM78,837.50 to the National Cancer Society Malaysia. Proceeds from the sponsorship and funds raised from this event were channelled directly to National Cancer Society Malaysia to be used for community outreach programmes, therapy and wellness programmes for cancer patients and survivors, cancer and health screening services and free accommodation for underprivileged children going through cancer treatment.
