Volkswagen Equips ID. Buzz with Continental Tyres

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is fitting its ID. Buzz with premium tyres from Continental.

Continental Supplies Original Equipment Tyres for Volkswagen

Volkswagen equipps the new all-electric “Bulli” ID. Buzz with EcoContact 6 Q summer tyres. Continental supplies its exceptionally energy-efficient tyres in sizes 19″ and 20″ directly to the factory. The EcoContact 6 Q offers outstanding energy efficiency, service life, brake performance and handling. The tread profile constantly adapts to the road surface, ensuring a longer tyre life. The specially developed rubber compound minimises friction when the tyre is in contact with the road surface, which means that the tyre dissipates less energy and, in turn, rolling resistance is reduced. With sipes and lateral grooves, the tyre is also noise-optimised.

The EcoContact 6 Q for the ID. Buzz also comes with ContiSeal technology, which enables journeys to be continued safely even if tyres are damaged. A highly elastic protective layer on the inside of the tyre closes in around penetrating objects in just a fraction of a second and reliably seals the puncture even when the object has been removed from the tread. With this technology, holes with diameters of up to five millimeters can be sealed securely, in turn allowing around 80 per cent of punctures to be fixed immediately. Since no technology spare tyre is needed, additional weight is saved, in turn, can help to increase range.

In many countries of the world, Continental also offers a wide range of additional summer, winter and all-season tyres including test winners such as the AllSeasonContact for the VW ID. Buzz as part of its tyre replacement business. Continental supplies tyres to seven of the world’s ten most successful electric vehicle manufacturers. In Europe, Continental is the approved supplier of original tyre equipment to the five highest-volume manufacturers of battery electric vehicles. In the Asia-Pacific and Americas region, Continental supplies three of the five highest-volume manufacturers of electric vehicles.

As a collaborative and development partner of many years’ standing to Volkswagen, Continental played a crucial role right from the outset in the design and development of the ID. Buzz. The technology company has contributed vital technology covering nearly all aspects of this cult van from the software and central computer architecture to the brakes and sophisticated thermal management system.
