Bridgestone Scores Highest Rating in CDP 2021’s Supplier Engagement Rating for Third Consecutive Year


Non-profit CDP has recognised Bridgestone’s leadership in combating climate change. For this reason, Bridgestone earned the highest rating in supply chain management on climate issues for the third consecutive year.

Bridgestone’s Policy in 2021 of Revising CO2 Emissions and Sustainable Procurement with Business Partners Paying Off

Marking the fifth time Bridgestone has been included on the Supplier Engagement Leader board with the highest A rating, the non-profit global programme analyses company climate change prevention and CO2 emission reduction activities to reduce the harmful effects of climate change. For Bridgestone, the manufacturer has pledged to reduce CO2 emission by 50 per cent from 2011 levels by 2030.

For its Global Sustainable Procurement Policy in 2021, the Japanese-based organisation has started the development of a carbon-neutral supply chain along with other provisions for promoting sustainable procurement along with its business partners. Moreover, Bridgestone is effectively tracking supplier activities and pursuing improvements through the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) assessments of third-party rating firm EcoVadis, which go in some way to explain its recent high Supplier Engagement Rating.

Finally, the Bridgestone E8 Commitment is another key step in how the manufacturer is looking to sustainability long-term. The 8 values are Energy, Ecology, Efficiency, Extension, Economy, Emotion, Ease, and Empowerment. These values form part of Bridgestone’s 2050 vision to continue various initiatives across its value chain, as it strives to achieve a carbon-neutral energy alternative and an ecological future that preserves the environment.
