Total vehicle production for January rose 36 per cent over the previous year to 58,527 units.
Based on figures released by Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA), the total industry volume (TIV) was 35 per cent lower than December 2022, which was at 76,657 units. This was due to the short working month because of the Chinese New Year festive holidays. The shortage of chips and components continued to affect certain makes.
New car sales for the month of January, 2023 was 19 per cent higher at 43,927 units compared to January 2022’s figures of 34,570 units. Passenger vehicle sales increased 39 per cent to 43, 927 units in January this year, from 34, 570 units in the same month last year.
Meanwhile, total vehicle production for January rose 36 per cent over the previous year to 58,527 units. Passenger car production for January 2023 was up 39 per cent, from 39,455 units in January last year to 54,663 units.
