Hankook has halted all tyre production at its Daejeon plant following a major fire that broke out at the factory on 12th March.
It was reported that the fire burned about 400,000 tyres, 11 people were hospitalised including workers and firm employees for toxic smoke inhalation. It took about 10 hours to put out the fire.
The Daejeon plant manufactures a wide range of tyres, including bus, passenger car and truck tyres. About 20 per cent of Hankook total global production is from the Daejeon plant. The date of resuming production is to be announced.
