Budget-Friendly Linglong Sport Master Holds Its Own Against Premium Rivals in ACE Test
The Linglong Sport Master has received a “recommendable” rating in the summer tyre test conducted by German motoring organisation, ACE (Auto Club Europa).
ACE tested ten summer tyres in size 225/40R18 XL, a fitment compatible with vehicles such as the Volkswagen Golf, Škoda Octavia, Seat Leon, Opel Astra, and Audi A3. The test covered premium, mid-range, and budget products, with three VW Golf 8s used as test vehicles to ensure comparable conditions across all entrants. Tyres were purchased anonymously from retailers to guarantee independent results.
Wet and dry performance testing, along with noise measurement, took place at the Hakka Ring in Spain, a test facility operated by Nokian Tyres. Meanwhile, rolling resistance tests were conducted at the Finnish tyre maker’s premises in its home country. The overall ranking is determined by how close the tyres’ final score is to the maximum score of 170, which covers wet safety (80 points), dry safety (60 points), and economy and environment (30 points).
The Linglong Sport Master performed particularly strongly in wet conditions, matching the test winner in that category. It also ranked among the top performers in terms of dry lane-changing and pass-by noise. The tyre, available in more than 70 sizes from 16 to 22 inches, was also the least expensive compared to its testing competitors.
“Summer tyres must react reliably in everyday use in heat, heavy rain, and sudden, dangerous situations. In the overall ranking, the Linglong Sport Master receives an overall rating ‘recommendable’,” the company said.
