The tyre retreading business, which produced around 1.1 million tyres annually in Malaysia as of 2024, is currently under serious pressure. Raw material costs are up, energy bills have surged, and retreaders have no choice but to raise their product prices. The Tyreman spoke with Edmund Wong, the President of the Tyre Retreading Manufacturers Association of Malaysia (TRMAM), to get a better understanding of the situation on the ground.
