Nexen is supplying N’Fera Supreme S and N’Fera Primus QX EV tyres for Hyundai’s China-only Elexio SUV.
Elexio the First EV Produced by Beijing Hyundai
Nexen Tire has begun supplying original equipment tyres for Hyundai Motor’s newly launched Elexio electric SUV in China, marking a further step in the South Korean tyre maker’s push to expand its presence in the world’s largest electric vehicle (EV) market.
The company said on January 6, 2026, that it is supplying two ultra-high performance tyres, the N’Fera Supreme S and the N’Fera Primus QX EV, for the Elexio, an electric SUV developed exclusively for China and built on Hyundai’s E-GMP electric platform. The model is the first dedicated EV produced by Beijing Hyundai.
Nexen said the N’Fera Supreme S, an all-season tyre designed for both electric and internal combustion vehicles, features noise-reduction and load-distribution technologies aimed at improving ride comfort and stability for heavier vehicles such as electric SUVs. It is also equipped with a 4D compound and shape retention technology to maintain after-wear performance, as well as an aerodynamic sidewall design to reduce air resistance and improve energy efficiency.
Meanwhile, the N’Fera Primus QX EV, a summer tyre developed specifically for EVs, is engineered to support high torque and dynamic handling. Nexen said the tyre enhances cornering stability, grip, and wet performance, while improving responsiveness during manoeuvres.
Nexen has been expanding its overseas original equipment business since 2012 and supplies tyres to a range of global automakers, including for electric and alternative-powertain vehicles. It currently provides OE tyres for models such as Hyundai’s Ioniq 6, the all-new Nexo fuel cell vehicle, and the whole Kia’s electric line-up.
The company said the Elexio supply deal is strategically important as it seeks to strengthen brand recognition in China.
“Supplying OE tyres for the Elexio marks an important milestone in demonstrating our electrification capabilities in the strategically important Chinese market,” said John Bosco (Hyeon Suk) Kim, chief executive of Nexen Tire. “We will continue to expand our global OE partnerships by delivering products optimised for both EVs and ICE vehicles.”
