Toyo Tires joins GDSO to strengthen tyre data standardisation, RFID-based traceability, and digital lifecycle management across the global tyre industry.
Toyo Tires Boosts Traceability with GDSO
Toyo Tire Corporation (Toyo Tires) announced on November 28, 2025, that it had joined the Global Data Organisation for Tyres and Automotive Components (GDSO), an international non-profit association promoting standardisation and access to data related to tyres and automotive components.
By becoming a member of the GDSO, Toyo Tires aims to advance its initiative to promote industry standards for tyre-related data and to establish individual tyre identification and traceability.
According to its official statement, Toyo Tires has been involved in the development of a data platform that GDSO promotes, utilising radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. All tyres manufactured and distributed by the Itami City-based company have been compiled in one database, ensuring efficiency and reliability of information management across the industry.
RFID uses wireless communication to enable non-contact individual identification. Its application in quality assurance and inventory control promises improved safety and efficiency. Toyo Tires plans to utilise this technology to deliver high-value-added services within its solution business initiatives, including retread and maintenance, and to strengthen tyre information management throughout a product’s life cycle.
By joining the GDSO, Toyo Tires positions the reduction of environmental impact as one of its key issues going forward to advance the development of sustainable tyres. “We remain committed to enhancing added value and corporate value by proactively using RFID and other digital technologies,” the company stated.
