Prinx Chengshan entered the giant OTR tyre market after rolling out its first 30.00R51 mining tyre from a new facility.

Prinx Aims To Be A “Full-Spectrum” Tyre Brand

Prinx Chengshan announced on January 26, 2026, that it has successfully produced its giant off-the-road (OTR) tyre, marking the company’s formal entry to the ultra-large mining tyre segment.

The tyre, called 30.00R51, was manufactured at Prinx Chengshan‘s newly developed green and intelligent OTR production facility, where company management and representatives from local authorities witnessed the roll-off of the maiden unit.

The milestone represents a step in expanding the Prinx brand into high-end industrial applications. According to the company, the move is a part of a bigger strategy to position Prinx as a “full-spectrum” tyre brand that serves passenger, commercial, and industrial markets across the globe.

The successful production of the 30.00R51 proves Prinx Chengshan‘s engineering capabilities in large-size, high-performance OTR tyres, which places it among a limited group of global manufacturers capable of doing so.

“This milestone reflects our long-term commitment to advanced engineering, quality, and sustainable manufacturing,” said Thomas Wohlgemuth, Managing Director Europe at Prinx Chengshan Tire Europe.

“From a European perspective, giant OTR tyres represent one of the most demanding categories in our industry. Entering this segment strengthens our confidence in expanding the Prinx OTR portfolio in line with European technical requirements, ESG expectations, and performance standards. It also enables us to support mining, infrastructure, and industrial customers with reliable, high-end solutions developed under Industry 4.0 manufacturing principles,” he added.

The 30.00R51 tyre is designed to equip ultra-large rigid dump trucks operating in open-pit mining environments. It has an outer diameter of nearly three metres and weighs approximately 1.8 tonnes. The tyre features an optimised tread pattern and an advanced cooling design to deliver reliable traction, effective heat management, and stable performance under extreme loads, ensuring safety, improved durability, and a lower total cost of ownership.

Prinx’s OTR Programme

Beyond production capability, the launch of the 30.00R51 marks the next phase in the global expansion of the Prinx brand into the giant OTR segment, leveraging its established presence in the passenger car and commercial vehicle segments. Prinx aims to progressively introduce large-sized OTR solutions for mining, port logistics, and other applications.

Prinx‘s giant OTR programme is supported by the Prinx Europe Tech Center in Hanover, Germany, and is aligned with European performance and sustainability standards. Construction of the company’s 100,000 square metres OTR factory began in 2025, representing a total investment of more than RMB 1.1 billion (around £115.7 million).

At its maximum capacity, the plant is expected to produce 84,000 engineering tyres and 10,000 giant OTR tyres annually. The facility integrates advanced automation, digitalised production systems, and energy-efficient infrastructure, including rooftop solar power generation.

“The project reflects Prinx Chengshan’s implementation of Industry 4.0 principles and its commitment to reducing environmental impact while delivering high-performance products,” the company said.

Looking ahead, the company plans to continue leveraging its global R&D network, including facilities in China, Thailand, Malaysia, Europe, and North America, while increasing investment in independent research and sustainable innovation.
