Record attendance and strong international participation reinforced Automechanika Shanghai 2025’s role in shaping future mobility and industry trends.
Automechanika Shanghai The Place to Be for Automotive Innovation and Collaboration
Participants and exhibitors at Automechanika Shanghai 2025 praised the event as the “place to be” for automotive innovation and global collaboration. The trade fair recorded its largest edition to date in the 2025 edition, marked by record visitor numbers and expanded international participation.
The four-day event, which concluded on November 29, 2025, drew 253,691 visitors from 190 countries and regions, a 14 per cent increase from last year’s edition. Overseas visitors accounted for 28 per cent of total attendance and, according to the organisers, 7,645 exhibitors from 44 countries and regions took part, up 10 per cent from the previous edition. The exhibition itself spanned 383,000 square metres, a nine per cent expansion, and featured 94 fringe programme events.
Fiona Chew, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt, said the scale and participation highlighted the trade fair’s relevance and influence. “More importantly, the event further demonstrated its role in the industry, not only through its comprehensive content covering R&D, manufacturing, distribution, and aftermarket, but also by serving as an indispensable platform for global collaboration, knowledge exchange, innovation, open dialogue, skills development, and nurturing the next generation of talent,” she said.
Chairperson of China National Machinery Industry International, Li Zhang, praised the event’s collaborative nature across the supply chain and between markets. “With even further advancements anticipated in new energy, intelligent connected vehicles, low carbon vehicles, and the low-altitude economy, we will continue to showcase these trends by updating our highlights and expanding the variety of activities at the show,” Li noted.
At Automechanika Shanghai 2025, exhibitors covered the entire automotive supply chain, from research and development and manufacturing to distribution and after-sales service. Participants appreciated the opportunities to showcase innovation, access new markets, and collaborate across different segments of the industry.
Organisers said the New Energy and Connectivity sector highlighted innovations in digital technologies, AI, and intelligent applications, including semiconductor chips and powertrain controllers, with growth driven by carmakers seeking to strengthen their supply-chain capabilities.
From the Parts and Components sector, companies related to chassis technologies increased, while commercial vehicle products continued to grow steadily. The Electrics and Electronics sector saw a rise in exhibitors specialising in sensors and other electronic products, driven by increasing demand for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
The Diagnostics and Repair, Body, and Paint sector showcased professional maintenance tools and eco-friendly equipment, including products for the maintenance and testing of new energy vehicle (NEV) powertrains and advanced intelligent diagnostic solutions. Accessories and Customising exhibitors focused on automotive lifestyle trends, while the Tyres and Wheels sector emphasised new high-strength and lightweight materials, alongside specialised products tailored for NEVs.
Jack Yang, General Manager of Thyssenkrupp Bilstein Greater China IAM, particularly highlighted Automechanika Shanghai’s support for new trends. “The automotive industry’s shift to new energy vehicle electrification and AI presents challenges and opportunities. The chassis sector embraces these changes while actively seeking new opportunities through advancing our technologies. Automechanika Shanghai, as a key platform, supports trend adoption through broadening its coverage in diverse fields, driving industry collaboration and innovation,” he said.
The same thing was said by Kihyo Nam, General Manager of Shanghai Valeo Pyeong Hwa International. “One significant observation in the automotive aftermarket over the past decade is the emergence of numerous aftermarket brands. This shift indicates an ongoing evolution in the product development cycle, with the independent aftermarket now taking an active role rather than relying solely on the traditional OEM-driven model. Automechanika Shanghai comprehensively showcases this evolving trend,” he commented.
Candy Qin, Parts Marketing Director at Guanxi Yuchai Machinery Monopoly Development, said the trade fair enabled participants to connect with potential distributors and dealers, thus supporting global expansion. Her sentiment was echoed by Hui Gao, Sales Manager at GAC Aion, who said the fair strengthened engagement across the value chain.
Fringe programmes, meanwhile, became Automechanika Shanghai 2025‘s value proposition compared to other trade shows. More than 450 speakers took part across the 94 programmes, which brought together governmetn bodies, industry associations, research institutions, and decision-makers. Topics inlcued assisted driving regulation, AI applications, powertrain innovation, intelligent chassis systems, and nw materials.
Supply-demand matching events attracted 500 participants from carmakers including BAIC New Energy, Dongfeng, FAW, NIO, SAIC Volkswagen, Stellanits, and Xpeng, alongside technology and components providers such as Siemens, Valero, and Lear.
Alexandre Mendes, chief executive of Brazilian automotive lighting supplier Rei Do Farol, said the show played a strategic role in accelerating aftermarket development. “It already contributes to global innovation by connecting suppliers with distributors and OEMs in China and Asia, providing Brazilian companies access to rapidly growing markets for electric vehicles and repair parts,” praised Mendes.
Regarding future mobility, Mark Kofahl, Director of Austalia’s Kombilife Group, said key discussions held during the event helped participants envision figure out their own visions. “At Automechanika Shanghai, visitors can explore advancements in electric vehicles and topics like new mobility. The exhibition serves as a gathering ground for local workshops and large manufacturers, facilitating key discussions that help participants envision the future of the sector,” he said.
Organisers said the breadth of participation and feedback reinforced Automechanika Shanghai‘s role in promoting business exchange, professional development and innovation across the automotive ecosystem amid rapid electrification, digitalisation, and sustainability demands.
