The new Hankook Ventus evo SUV, co-developed with Volkswagen, ensures a quiet and comfortable drive.
6 Sizes Available for Tiguan, 5 for Tayron
Hankook Tire will supply its Ventus evo SUV tyre to equip two popular Volkswagen SUV models, the Tiguan and the Tayron. Six different tyre sizes, ranging from 17 to 20 inches, are available for various models of the Tiguan. Meanwhile, for the crossover Tayron, the Ventus evo SUV is available in five sizes.
According to Hankook‘s official statement, Volkswagen was “closely involved” in the development of the Ventus evo SUV. It offers balanced handling by combining comfort and performance, as well as a low noise level, thanks to tread design and materials. With a noise level of less than 66 decibels, the Ventus evo SUV is within Volkswagen’s noise threshold of 68 decibels for the Tiguan and Tayron.
“The provision of original equipment for the two SUV models Tiguan and Tayron is further proof that the Volkswagen Group considers Hankook one of its top development partners in the tyre sector,” said Klaus Krause, Vice President and Head of Europe Technical Center at Hankook.
“We have succeeded in perfectly matching our premium summer tyre, Ventus evo SUV, in every tyre size to the driving characteristics of the two models and achieved our goal of combining the requirements for high comfort over long distances with a sporty character,” added Krause.
Other features of the Hankook Ventus evo SUV include a tread designed tailored for the segment and an “innovative” material mix that provides high mileage, “excellent” handling, and safety. The engineers designed the 17-, 18- and 19-inch sizes of the Ventus evo SUV for maximum driving comfort, while the 20-inch tyres have a much sportier character.

The Opti Pitch technology, which focuses on the size and positioning of the tread blocks, and the Kerf design, which also has a noise-reducing effect, are the standouts in this aspect. Meanwhile, the Dual Pitch technology ensures the optimum number of blocks on the inside and outside of the tread for maximum steering precision when cornering, while lowering the rolling noise, as well. Additionally, the tread height has been adjusted to reduce noise without compromising traction, braking behaviour, cornering stability, or maximum mileage.
During the testing phase of the tyre development, Hankook not only tested the Ventus evo SUV for the Volkswagen Tiguan and Tayron inside a laboratory. The tyres were also subject to tests on the vibrating track and the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The Hankook tyres selected as original equipment for the Tiguan and Tayron each bear a plus sign in a circle on the tyre sidewall. The special label signifies that the tyres have been developed to the exact specifications of Volkswagen. After being developed at the Hankook Technology Center in Hanover, Germany, the tyres are produced at Hankook’s Rácalmás plant in Hungary.
