Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 for Exceptional Driving Experience

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3

Goodyear has launched its latest premium tyre, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3, in Malaysia. This luxury sport tyre is said to deliver 31 per cent better wear performance and shorter braking distance on dry and wet roads to help drivers stay in control. With proven Eagle family test wins and an OE track record, including the new Jaguar XF, Goodyear says the latest Eagle F1 is its premium offering for ‘excellent’ braking performance, responsive handling and control in dry and wet conditions.

Enhance Your Driving Experience with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3

A test drive event was conducted recently at the Sepang International Circuit by Goodyear Malaysia for selected media, including The Tyreman. Each of us had the chance to experience the new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 tyre performance in two tests – slalom and wet braking – and a drive at the Sepang circuit. All these tests demonstrated the confidence that the company has in its new tyre that is packed with new technology. The new Grip Booster Technology comprises a grip booster compound and adhesive resin for stickiness, which deliver strong grip for shorter braking and improved handling. The Active Braking Technology increases the contact surface and grip when braking, which allows for a shorter braking distance. The new reinforced construction technology delivers a stronger, lightweight construction improving handling, cornering performance, tread wear and fuel efficiency.

The track handling allowed us to feel the tyres through a series of fast corners. They were responsive and highly in control as well as continued to grip, thanks to its new Grip Booster compound. A Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 was made available for us to experience the Active Braking Technology with two runs at speeds of 70km/h and 90km/h, and the wet braking performance was equally impressive. We did not participate in the slalom test that was designed to agitate the holding and grip of the new tyres, but witnessed the good holding and grip that the new tyre performed during the test.

A test carried out by independent organisation DEKRA resulted in a strong performance on tread wear compared to other premium tyres in the market. In fact, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 is projected to offer up to 11,500km extra mileage (or +31 per cent better wear performance) versus the average of three leading competitors.

Additionally, the independent TÜV Süd Benchmark Test ordered by Goodyear shows that the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3, compared to the average of three leading competitors, has a 2.6-metre shorter braking distance (9 per cent better performance) on wet roads, a 1.3-metre shorter braking distance on dry roads (4 per cent better performance) and 4 per cent better wet handling. The same test results also show a 10.9-per cent better rolling resistance compared to the average of the three tested competitors, which represents the second best rolling resistance performance of the tyre brands involved.

“Malaysia’s tyre market is forecasted to grow at a CAGR rate of ≈3 per cent during 2016 – 2020; the replacement tyre market accounting for 80 per cent market share in 2016 is anticipated to grow through 2020. With that, the introduction of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 tyre is in line to meet the growing demands of the premium sport tyre segment in Malaysia, both in the OEM and consumer market,” said Ben Hoge, Managing Director of Goodyear Malaysia Berhad.

“It has also been accredited as original equipment for some of the world’s leading cars such as the Jaguar XF, Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 series, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Chevrolet Camaro and Porsche Panamera. With its improved grip and braking technology, the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 demonstrates Goodyear’s brand promise of offering greater peace of mind, regardless of the destination,” Ben added.

For the Malaysian market, the new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 tyre is offered in 17” to 20” rim diameter variants, with up to 34 sizes.

This tyre retails from RM668 to RM1,820 inclusive of GST, depending on the sizes. Consumers can purchase the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 tyre at Goodyear Autocare and Servitekar outlets as well as authorised Goodyear dealers nationwide.
