Michelin Malaysia has extended its Primacy 5 tyre range to cover sport utility vehicles, adding 34 new fitments for 16- to 22-inch wheels to bring the total Malaysian line-up to 76 sizes.

Michelin Primacy 5 Offers 76 Sizes for Electric and Conventional SUVs

The extension covers both internal combustion and electric SUV models, and includes reinforced sidewalls for greater stability and impact resistance on rough road conditions. The move responds to a significant shift in the Malaysian market, where SUVs and crossovers have grown from 11 per cent of vehicle sales in 2010 to 42 per cent in 2025.

Florentin Odenwald, Managing Director of Michelin Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei, said, “Malaysia is at an exciting inflexion point, with EV adoption accelerating and SUVs dominating the roads. With the extension of the Michelin Primacy 5 range, we are meeting this shift head on, giving drivers of both electric and conventional SUVs a tyre that delivers on comfort, safety, and efficiency without compromise.”

The SUV extension carries the core attributes of the Primacy 5, which has received the 2025 Auto Magazine Best Tire Award and the 2025 Summer Tyre Test Winner Award by Tekniikan Maailma.

Key performance claims include the lowest interior cabin noise in its segment through Michelin Silent Rib Gen-3 technology, a 16 per cent shorter wet braking distance on both new and worn tyres supported by Michelin EverGrip, Michelin EverTread, and Functional Elastomers, as well as a 10 per cent reduction in rolling resistance to improve energy efficiency and extend the electric vehicle’s battery range. The MaxTouch tech is also applied to distribute the forces of acceleration, braking, and cornering evenly across the contact patch for longer tread life.

The Michelin Primacy 5 is available at authorised Michelin tyre dealers nationwide, with recommended retail prices from RM467 to RM1,639.
