Less than a month after its debut as the official support race for the 2025 Super GT Malaysia Round, the Toyota GR86 Cup Malaysia Series returned to the Sepang International Circuit for Round 2 from 25–27 July, 2025 where Bridgestone‘s Potenza RE-71RS is the Official Tyre Supplier.
Bridgestone’s Ultra-High-Performance Tyre Shines Under Pressure
The Toyota GR86 Cup Malaysia Series features two competitive categories—Pro-AM and Clubman. In Round 2, seventeen GR86 cars went head-to-head in equally prepared Toyota GR86 race cars. The Sunday race became the highlight, as multiple on-track incidents involving several cars tested driver skill and equipment to the limit. Adding to the challenge, the intense heat at Sepang pushed track temperatures to nearly 38°C.
Despite the collisions and challenging race conditions, the Potenza RE-71RS tyres showed strong resilience, maintaining grip, stability, and consistent performance, allowing racers to continue delivering strong lap times and close racing until the chequered flag. This performance once again demonstrated the tyre’s track-ready capabilities and reliability in harsh conditions.
The one-make race format ensures every team competes on identical machinery, with results determined solely by driving skill and race craft. By equipping every GR86 with the same Potenza RE-71RS tyres, Bridgestone supports a fair and competitive platform while showcasing the consistency and dependability of its flagship ultra-high-performance product.
