Toyo Tires Unveils Proxes Comfort to Meet Growing Electrified Vehicle Demand
Toyo Tyre Sales and Marketing Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Toyo Tires Malaysia) has officially launched the all-new Proxes Comfort. The premium luxury comfort tyre is designed to offer a sophisticated balance between high-performance handling and refined ride quality.
The new tyre was unveiled at a special Gala Dinner event for Toyo dealers held on January 26 at the Genting International Convention Centre which attracted 600 attendees.
Meanwhile, a public online launch event was streamed live via the official Toyo Tires Malaysia Facebook page on February 6, 2026. The event was presented in a talk-show format hosted by Hezeri Samsuri from Careta Media. The broadcast featured an expert panel consisting of Toyo Tires Malaysia’s Senior Manager of Technical Services, Amirul Amin, professional drifter Tengku Djan, and e-sports athlete Naquib Azlan.
Positioned as a direct upgrade to the existing Proxes CR1, the new model is engineered for drivers seeking enhanced performance without sacrificing the comfort associated with the Proxes range.
The launch comes at a time of significant change in the Malaysian automotive landscape. Data from the Car Fuel Type Summary (2000-2025) indicates that the adoption of electrified vehicles has grown by more than 300 per cent over the past four years. This reflects a clear shift in driving needs, with motorists placing a greater emphasis on safety, efficiency, and everyday comfort.
Responding to this evolution, Tan Song Chye, President and Managing Director of Toyo Tyre Sales and Marketing Malaysia Sdn Bhd, said, “Toyo Tires will introduce three new tyre models under its Proxes series over the next three years, each developed to support the performance demands of modern mobility. Proxes Comfort is the first model launched under this strategy, marking a key milestone in Toyo Tires’ product roadmap in Malaysia.”
The development of the Proxes Comfort focused on the specific priorities of Malaysian motorists: strong wet grip to handle frequent rain, stable handling through corners at high speeds, and a comfortable ride for long-distance travel. Designed primarily for B, C, and E segment vehicles, it is particularly suited for drivers who frequently use highways.
Technical Features
The Proxes Comfort features an asymmetric tread design and a new internal structure that reduces strain on the bead and belt edge. This ensures more uniform ground contact pressure during cornering and lane changes, which improves vehicle control. A major highlight is the Dynamic Taper Design in the lateral grooves, which improves braking performance by suppressing pressure at the groove edges.
Internal testing using a Volkswagen Golf 8 revealed an 8 per cent shorter stopping distance in dry conditions and a 13 per cent shorter distance in the wet compared to the Proxes CF2. Developed using Toyo Tires‘ proprietary T-Mode and Nano Balance Technology, the tyre is also designed to suppress road noise and vibrations.
Bearing the “EV READY” designation, 11 of the Proxes Comfort‘s available sizes have been specifically optimised for electric vehicle noise performance. These variants feature ride comfort and noise reduction ratings of 5/5. Most variants also feature Extra Load (XL) ratings to support the higher weight requirements of BEVs, HEVs, and PHEVs.
The Proxes Comfort is currently available in 14 sizes for both passenger cars and SUVs, with more sizes expected soon. The tyre is available at all authorised Toyo Centres nationwide starting today, with a recommended retail price ranging from RM279 to RM698, depending on the size.
