Automechanika debuted its new tyre competence at Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City, as a brand new exhibitor category emerged alongside the trade fair’s well known and established motorcycle competence.
The 2018 show, located at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre took place from the 25th to the 27th of April and welcomed 360 exhibitors in an exhibition space that stretched over 9,000 square metres and attracted over 8,500 visitors.
The tyre competence featured companies from countries predominantly situated in Asia such as Taiwan, Indonesia and Vietnam. The main representatives from these territories included Ying Paio Enterprise, Mitra Rubber Industries, Omexey Rubber and Techwell Industrial.
The show also had some international tyre presence there as 31 Incorporated from the United States were there to fly the international flag as Steven Van Dyke, the company’s Operations Manager was on hand to talk to us about their presence at the show and in the South East Asian region.
Going forwards into the future, the show will undoubtedly be looking to grow and expand this part of the show, with the current tyre competence requiring further work make it an undeniable success. With the Vietnamese tyre market expected to surpass USD 3 billion by the end of 2021, Messe Frankfurt will be looking to grow this competence of the show at the same rate that the local tyre market dictates.
The inclusion of a new tyre competence to the show follows the announcement that Messe Frankfurt and Reifen will be collaborating for the former’s main Automechanika show in Frankfurt later this year, allowing the automotive service and tyre industries to be in the same spot at the same time.
During the press conference that opened the show, we asked director Olaf Mußhoff for his thoughts on the collaboration and the benefits it brings to the Automechanika brand.
Mußhoff explained, “the tyre section for Automechanika was very small in the past, so we decided to cooperate with our colleagues at Reifen to bring this sector back to Frankfurt.”
He continued, “the benefits are two-fold. It helps Automechanika bring an important part of the automotive sector to the show, whilst simultaneously providing Reifen a platform to continue promoting their brand. It goes without saying but this saves time and money.”
“Bringing the tyre industry under one room, means that we can save the workshop industry 1 additional show every year. All of this means that it brings Automechanika one step closer to being a show provider for the entire automotive sector,” concluded Mußhoff.
Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City wasn’t all about tyres though as the trade fair gave a platform to other key industry sectors such as: parts, components, electronics, accessories, repair, maintenance, dealer and workshop management, car care and digital solutions to name but a few of the additional competences.
This extensive coverage of the automotive market allowed for the inclusion of eight overseas pavilions and an intriguing fringe programme schedule that delved a little deeper into Vietnam’s automotive industry, vehicle repair and new generation lubricant technologies.
