The Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2017, which is in its 10th edition, ended with increased visitor and exhibitor participation. This year’s exhibition was the largest as it brought together 246 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions, compared to 243 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions in the 2015 edition. The exhibitors occupied 9,710 square metres to showcase the latest industry trends, tools and technology, a 30-per cent increase in the exhibition space.
There was a significant drop in the number of Malaysian exhibitors, with the absence of many major players, especially from the tyre servicing equipment sector. However, Launch Tech Malaysia and Hock Lee Industries still maintained a strong presence, among the familiar names such as Newera Equipment Supply and LSK Auto Resources. Similar to other trade exhibitions, there was a significant increase in the number of Chinese exhibitors, with the Chinese Pavilion occupying most of the exhibition area.
It welcomed 5,677 visitors from 71 countries and regions, compared to 5,440 from 65 countries and regions in 2015, up 4.4 per cent. The general feedback from the exhibitors was the satisfaction with the quality of attendees visiting the show. Some also expressed that this show was a good meeting point for their customers.
Several workshop training sessions and demonstrations successfully attracted the attention of the visitors, while the EMMA Malaysia Final and Mechanics Challenge added to the excitement of the exhibition.
